TASKING C166 Tool Suite Improves Performance and Shortens Development TimeTool Suite Now Supports More Derivatives and Linux
Dedham, Mass. — January 25, 2000 — TASKING today
announced the release of the C166 Tool Suite, v.6.0r6, for embedded
software development. With improvements in compiler optimization and
debugging, the new tool suite is proven to reduce code size by 7%,
giving developers the ability to debug programs quickly and more
easily. The new tool suite consists of TASKING's Embedded
Development Environment, optimized C as well as C++/EC++ compilers
and CrossView Pro debugger. Designed for Infineon Technologies' C166
Family and STMicroelectronics' ST10 Family, the tool suite ensures
support for the latest available derivatives as well as the PC/Linux
platform, ensuring greater ease and efficiency in generating and
debugging embedded applications. Recognizing the developers' need to achieve
critical time to market deadlines, TASKING created the C166 tool
suite with improved design efficiency. User definable intrinsic
functions offer low-level CPU-related functions to be accessed at
the C level, reducing the need to use in-line assembly or the
assembler. Six memory models, structured to satisfy any size of data
requirement, enable developers to scale the program to the
application. Ultra-efficient pointer arithmetic and fast parameter
passing improve code speed and efficiency, while a powerful
assembler, linker and locator offer the option of generating ROMable
code. "This release of the C166 tool suite
provides our customers with significant added value and confirms
TASKING's commitment to providing the de facto standard toolset for
the C166/ST10 families," says Stephan Paternotte, TASKING
Product Marketing Manager. Featuring enhanced register windows and a more
intuitive user interface, the CrossView Pro C166 debugger quickly
identifies errors, enabling developers to achieve development
production goals. With this release, developers can group registers
into register sets, display only critical registers and quickly and
easily inspect variable contents using BubbleSpy technology.
Programmable data analysis windows allow graphical presentation of
data objects, thus enabling easy identification of failing signal
processing. Availability
The C166 Tool Suite, v.6.0r6, is available now for Windows 95/98/NT,
Sun Solaris, HP/UX and PC/Linux. C166 customers with a maintenance
contract may upgrade to this release free of charge. A demo version
of the tool suite is available from www.tasking.com/products/C166-ST10
or on CD-ROM from any of the TASKING offices or distributors.
Release notes and readme files can be downloaded from the technical
