3S - We software Automation. 3S develops and sells software products for the automation industry based on CoDeSys, the well-known IEC 61131-3 programming system for controller applications. Apart from CoDeSys 3S offers a range of products including SoftPLC and visualisation products for various platforms, a motion control and a server application for version control/tool cooperation.

The CoDeSys SP runtime kernel software is a SoftPLC kernel for various CPU families. In order to make a programmable industrial controller (PLC) out of an intelligent hardware this kernel has to be adapted to the hardware. When doing so communication routines, I/O driver software and other software extensions have to be added to the C source code / object code of the kernel software depending on customer specifications.

TASKING compilers are necessary to make executable code out of the completed runtime kernel for the industrial controller. The CoDeSys SP runtime kernel adheres to the compiler characteristics so that the TASKING classic C166/ST10 compiler can generate a compact and fast code.
