Most Cor­tex®-M micro­con­troller sup­pli­ers pro­vide a range of develop­ment and eval­u­a­tion boards, allow­ing devel­op­ers to quick­ly cre­ate pro­to­types or test basic ideas. For advanced develop­ment, includ­ing code cov­er­age and tim­ing analy­sis, we rec­om­mend con­sid­er­ing upgrad­ing to a Blue­Box On-Chip Ana­lyz­er.

Renesas RL78

The Rene­sas E1/E2 On-Chip Debug­ger is sup­port­ed for RL78 range of micro­con­troller prod­ucts. Due to lim­i­ta­tions of the E1/E2 Debug­ger hard­ware, func­tion­al­i­ty togeth­er with our winIDEA soft­ware is lim­it­ed to flash pro­gram­ming, com­mu­ni­ca­tion via JTAG or LPD, and stan­dard debug func­tion­al­i­ty. Addi­tion­al­ly, only bina­ry files gen­er­at­ed by Green­hills’ GHS or the IAR com­pil­er are sup­port­ed.

In order to sup­port the advanced trace capa­bil­i­ties of some Rene­sas’ micro­con­trollers, we rec­om­mend con­sid­er­ing our range of Blue­Box On-Chip Ana­lyz­ers.
